Women’s Mental Health Care at MoonPhase Wellness
Menopause-informed psychiatric evaluation, consultation, and ongoing care for women located in Massachusetts
MoonPhase Women’s Mental Health Care
MoonPhase provides thoughtful mental health care for women experiencing changes in mood, anxiety, sleep, cognition, sexual health, medication response, or overall functioning.
We begin with the broader pattern—psychiatric symptoms are considered alongside reproductive stage, medical history, medications, sleep, relationships, physical health, and the circumstances in which change emerged.
Care is provided by a Massachusetts-licensed, board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with specialized training in women’s mental health, reproductive transitions, menopause-informed care, and integrative and nutritional psychiatry.
Women’s Mental Health Care at MoonPhase may begin as a one-time comprehensive psychiatric evaluation for women seeking diagnostic clarification, a second opinion, review of current treatment, or greater understanding of how reproductive or hormonal transitions may be affecting sleep, mood, anxiety, cognition, libido, medication response, or overall functioning.
Women do not have to transfer care to MoonPhase to receive a one-time evaluation. Some women may continue with their existing therapist, psychiatric prescriber, primary care clinician, gynecologist, or other treating professionals after the evaluation.
For women who wish to continue with MoonPhase—and when you and MoonPhase mutually agree that ongoing care is appropriate—treatment may include medication management, supportive or CBT-informed interventions, integrative and nutritional psychiatric considerations, and coordination with other treating professionals.
The MoonPhase approach incorporates a menopause-informed and hormone-aware psychiatric lens into evaluation and treatment when reproductive or hormonal transitions may be relevant.
Other MoonPhase pathways remain distinct from psychiatric care but may be accessed independently, added as separate services, or used alongside psychiatric care when appropriate. Learn more about each pathway and current availability on the Explore Your Options page.
MoonPhase is a self-pay practice and does not bill insurance directly. Superbills may be available for eligible clinical services, but reimbursement is not guaranteed and depends on your insurance plan and benefits.
How Women’s Mental Health Care May Begin & Continue at MoonPhase
Discovery Call
A complimentary 30-minute, nonclinical conversation to clarify what you are seeking, answer questions about MoonPhase psychiatric services, and determine whether a menopause-informed psychiatric evaluation may be an appropriate next step. A discovery call is not an evaluation, diagnosis, treatment session, or medication consultation and does not establish a provider-patient relationship.Comprehensive Women’s Mental Health Psychiatric Evaluation
A comprehensive menopause-informed psychiatric evaluation for women seeking a deeper understanding of changes in mood, anxiety, sleep, cognition, sexual health, functioning, or medication response. The evaluation considers psychiatric history alongside reproductive stage, physical health, medications, life circumstances, and symptom patterns.One-Time Comprehensive Evaluation or Second Opinion
For women seeking diagnostic clarification, review of current treatment, or a menopause-informed psychiatric perspective while continuing care with their existing clinician. You do not need to transfer your psychiatric care to MoonPhase to request a one-time evaluation.Ongoing Women’s Mental Health Care
When MoonPhase and the patient mutually determine that ongoing care is appropriate, treatment may include medication management, supportive or CBT-informed interventions, menopause-informed care, and integrative and nutritional psychiatry considerations, and coordination with other members of the healthcare team.

Sexual Health Is Part of Mental Health
Sexual health is not an adjunct to women’s mental health. It is one of the places where mood, medication, pain, hormones, nervous-system state, relationship, identity, and embodiment become visible.
Who This Pathway May Be For
Psychiatric care may be appropriate when changes in mood, anxiety, sleep, cognition, motivation, sexual health, or daily functioning are persistent, distressing, difficult to understand, or beginning to interfere with your life.
You do not need to know whether what you are experiencing is psychiatric, hormonal, medical, medication-related, situational—or some combination—before reaching out.
What to Expect
Women’s Mental Health/Psychiatric care begins with a comprehensive evaluation rather than an assumption about diagnosis or treatment.
The initial evaluation provides time to review your current concerns, relevant psychiatric and reproductive history, medications, previous treatment responses, health factors, and the timing and pattern of symptoms.
When you and MoonPhase mutually agree to initiate or continue psychiatric care, the treatment plan may include medication management, supportive or CBT-informed interventions, integrative recommendations, education, and collaboration with other members of your healthcare team.
A one-time evaluation may conclude with diagnostic impressions, treatment considerations, and recommendations that you can review with your existing healthcare team.
Participation in a MoonPhase menopause education or wellness consultation does not automatically establish psychiatric care.
Massachusetts residents who later wish to pursue psychiatric treatment complete a separate psychiatric intake and comprehensive evaluation.
Insurance & Self-Pay
MoonPhase is a self-pay psychiatric practice and does not bill commercial insurance directly.
We ask about both primary and secondary insurance coverage because your coverage may affect how self-pay psychiatric services can be offered, whether a superbill may be useful, and what payment options or limitations may apply.
If you have commercial insurance, Medicare, Medicare Advantage, Medicaid/MassHealth, secondary coverage, no insurance coverage, or are unsure of your coverage, please include that information in your consultation request.
Providing insurance information does not mean MoonPhase will bill your insurance. It allows us to review your situation accurately and explain the self-pay options that may be available to you.

Is MoonPhase the Right Level of Care?
MoonPhase is a specialized outpatient psychiatric practice in Massachusetts and may not be appropriate for needs requiring:
emergency or crisis psychiatric services
acute psychosis, mania, or other psychiatric symptoms requiring urgent assessment, intensive monitoring, or a higher level of care
urgent or bridge medication refills without an established treatment relationship
care primarily centered on ongoing benzodiazepine treatment, complex controlled-substance management, or deprescribing that fall outside MoonPhase prescribing policies or level of care
hormone prescribing, hormone replacement therapy management, or primary management of endocrine or gynecologic conditions
detoxification or withdrawal management requiring medical monitoring
eating-disorder care requiring specialized medical or higher-level treatment
court-ordered, forensic, fitness-for-duty, disability, or other administrative evaluations
management of unstable or complex medical conditions that require another treating clinician or higher level of care
If your needs fall outside the scope of the practice, MoonPhase may recommend another clinician, service, or level of care.
Collaboration, Coordination & Referrals
Psychiatric care at MoonPhase may include collaboration with your primary care clinician, gynecologist, therapist, endocrinologist, or other treating professionals when coordination would support safe and thoughtful care.
When appropriate, you may be asked to complete a Release of Information (ROI) so MoonPhase can obtain relevant records or communicate directly with members of your healthcare team. Your preferences regarding communication and information sharing will be discussed as part of your care.
MoonPhase encourages patients to let their other treating healthcare professionals know that they are receiving psychiatric care when doing so supports safe, coordinated treatment. Open communication can be particularly important when medications, hormone therapy, medical conditions, reproductive transitions, or changes in symptoms may intersect with psychiatric care.
MoonPhase may also recommend or facilitate referral to another clinician, specialist, service, or level of care when a concern falls outside the scope of the practice or would benefit from additional evaluation or treatment.
MoonPhase may consider and monitor relevant medical, gynecologic, endocrine, or reproductive factors and make recommendations for further evaluation, follow-up, or discussion with your treating clinicians when those factors may affect psychiatric care.
MoonPhase does not assume primary management of conditions that remain under the care of another clinician and does not replace medical care outside the scope of this psychiatric practice.
Collaboration and referral are intended to support continuity, reduce fragmentation, and help ensure that psychiatric decisions are made with relevant health information available
Transitioning Women’s Mental Health Care
If you are currently receiving psychiatric medication management from another prescriber and wish to transition care to MoonPhase, coordination may be needed before MoonPhase assumes prescribing responsibility.
This may include review of prior records, medication history, pharmacy information, and communication with your current prescriber.
If another clinician will continue prescribing psychiatric or other medications that may affect your treatment, MoonPhase expects those medications and prescribing relationships to be disclosed so that care can be coordinated safely.
MoonPhase does not provide duplicate or parallel psychiatric prescribing simply to add medications to a regimen being actively managed by another clinician. When more than one clinician is prescribing medications that may affect psychiatric treatment, the prescribing roles should be clearly identified and coordinated.
Patients are expected to disclose all current prescription medications, prescribing clinicians, and meaningful medication changes so that MoonPhase can evaluate potential interactions, overlapping treatment, and the overall medication plan, in addition, patients are encouraged to notify MoonPhase when another clinician starts, stops, or significantly changes a medication that may affect psychiatric treatment.
There may be circumstances in which a primary care clinician, gynecologist, specialist, or other healthcare professional appropriately continues to prescribe medications while you are receiving psychiatric care at MoonPhase. In these situations, MoonPhase supports coordinated care and may request communication or records when clinically relevant.
Acceptance for evaluation does not guarantee continuation of an existing medication regimen or that MoonPhase will assume responsibility for medications prescribed by another clinician. Prescribing decisions are made following comprehensive evaluation and development of an agreed-upon treatment plan.
Submitting a Consultation Request does not establish care or guarantee acceptance into the practice.
Your request will be reviewed to determine the most appropriate next step.
